HARRIS COUNTY
Texas Solar for All will bring three key programs to Harris County:
Harris County Community Solar
Residents across Harris County will be able to access locally-produced solar energy with guaranteed savings on their monthly electric bills. Through a groundbreaking partnership between Harris County and the City of Houston, qualified residents will opt into a community solar program that reduces energy costs and supports local clean energy production. If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about this program, contact us at sustainability.oca@harriscountytx.gov or visit our website here.
Community Hubs
Led by communities, West Street Recovery, Solar United Neighbors, and Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience will identify three privately owned “Community Hubs,” such as faith-based institutions and community centers, on where to install solar, storage, and other emergency amenities to allow the facility to stay open during a grid outage. These Community Hubs will partner with the “Hub Homes” (discussed below) to provide a network of resilience in Harris County communities.

Hub Homes
West Street Recovery, Solar United Neighbors, and Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience will identify and support a selection of homes to serve their neighbors during an emergency by becoming “Hub Homes.” Hub Homes help their neighbors withstand grid outages and other extreme weather emergencies by providing resilience support. These Hub Homes will also receive a free rooftop solar array and battery storage. The host will provide materials, assistance, and resources to share with 10-15 neighboring families to prepare for and manage power outages and extreme weather. We expect Hub Homes to see a 40-60% reduction in their monthly electricity bill. If you have any questions or are interested in signing up to the Hub Homes program, contact us here.
